The Perfect Sifnos Itinerary: How I Spent 3 Days on Sifnos in 2026

If you asked me before this trip which Greek island I was most excited to visit, I probably would've said Milos. Sifnos wasn't even on my radar a few months ago.

But after spending three days here, it ended up being one of my favorite islands in all of Greece.

Maybe it was the slower pace. Maybe it was the incredible food. Or maybe it was the fact that I never felt like I was fighting crowds to enjoy a beautiful view. Whatever it was, Sifnos just felt... easy. It reminded me why I love traveling in the first place.

Why Sifnos Should Be on Your Greece Itinerary

I've been fortunate enough to visit quite a few Greek islands, and every one has its own personality.

Santorini has the dramatic views.

Mykonos has the nightlife.

Milos has some of the most unique beaches I've ever seen.

But Sifnos feels different.

It isn't trying to impress you. It doesn't have flashy beach clubs or huge crowds. Instead, it quietly wins you over with incredible food, charming villages, beautiful hiking trails, and a pace that encourages you to slow down.

I found myself putting my camera down more often, sitting a little longer over lunch, and wandering streets with no destination in mind. Those usually end up being my favorite travel days.

Sifnos Day 1: Exploring Apollonia, Artemonas & Sunset in Kastro

After arriving by ferry, I dropped my bags at the hotel and headed straight into Apollonia, the island's capital.

It's exactly what you picture when you think of a Greek island village—whitewashed buildings, blue doors, narrow stone walkways, colorful flowers spilling over balconies, and little cafés tucked into every corner.

I purposely didn't have much of a plan that afternoon.

I wandered through pottery shops, stopped for an iced coffee, browsed a few boutiques, and simply enjoyed getting lost.

One of the best decisions I made was walking over to Artemonas, about ten minutes away.

It was noticeably quieter than Apollonia, and honestly, I think I liked it even more. Beautiful homes, hidden courtyards, and hardly anyone around. It felt like discovering a side of the island many visitors skip.

Sifnos Sunset in Kastro

If there's one thing you absolutely shouldn't miss on Sifnos, it's sunset in Kastro.

As I walked through the narrow stone streets toward the cliff's edge, everything became quieter. The crowds disappeared, the wind picked up, and the Aegean stretched out endlessly in front of me.

Watching the sun slowly disappear behind the sea from the Church of the Seven Martyrs was one of those travel moments you don't forget.

It wasn't loud or dramatic.

It was simply beautiful.

Where I Ate My First Night on Sifnos

After sunset I headed back to Apollonia for dinner at Mamma Mia.

I know... Italian food in Greece.

Normally I wouldn't recommend it, but several locals suggested it, and I'm glad I listened.

The homemade pasta was outstanding, the atmosphere was relaxed, and after a full day of walking it was exactly what I was craving.

Sifnos Day 2: Beaches, Great Food & Slowing Down

The next morning I rented a car.

If you're only spending three days on Sifnos, I think renting a car is one of the best decisions you can make. It gives you the freedom to explore beaches and villages on your own schedule.

I spent most of the day beach hopping.

Platis Gialos was lively but never felt crowded.

Vathi quickly became one of my favorite beaches. The water was calm, the bay was beautiful, and it felt like the kind of place where you could easily lose an entire afternoon.

I also stopped by Faros, another peaceful beach with crystal-clear water that was perfect for a swim.

I wasn't rushing from place to place.

I spent more time sitting by the water than checking things off a list, and honestly, that's what Sifnos is all about.

The Best Restaurants on Sifnos

One thing I wasn't expecting was just how good the food would be.

I've traveled enough to know every destination claims to have amazing food.

Sifnos actually delivers.

Ω3 (Omega3)

If I had to recommend only one restaurant on the island, this would probably be it.

Located right on Platis Gialos Beach, Ω3 serves some of the freshest seafood I've had anywhere in Greece.

The tuna tartare was incredible, the shrimp pasta was outstanding, and sitting just steps from the beach made the whole experience even better.

Reserve ahead if you're visiting during the summer.

It's worth it.

Cantina

For lunch, I loved Cantina on Seralia Beach below Kastro.

Grilled octopus, Greek salad, zucchini chips, and a cold drink while looking out over the water...

That's about as perfect as lunch gets.

Kelari

If you're looking for authentic Greek cooking, don't skip Kelari.

This is where you'll find traditional dishes like Revithada and Mastelo that Sifnos is famous for.

Simple food done exceptionally well.

Theodorou Sweet Shop

I couldn't leave without stopping for dessert.

The baklava and galaktoboureko were every bit as good as people said they were.

Sifnos Day 3: Hiking One of Greece's Most Beautiful Islands

If you've followed me for a while, you know I usually try to find a hike wherever I travel.

Sifnos didn't disappoint.

The island has more than 60 miles of marked hiking trails connecting villages, beaches, and monasteries.

I chose the trail between Apollonia and Kastro, and it ended up being one of my favorite experiences on the island.

Along the way I passed olive groves, tiny white churches, old stone walls, and viewpoints that never seem to make it onto Instagram.

There were stretches where I didn't see another person for twenty minutes.

That alone made it worth it.

Is Sifnos Affordable?

Compared to Santorini or Mykonos, absolutely.

It's not a budget destination, but I consistently felt like I was getting more value for my money.

The hotels were more reasonable.

The restaurants were outstanding without the outrageous prices.

Even meals with an incredible waterfront view felt fairly priced.

If you're looking for a Greek island that feels upscale without being overpriced, Sifnos is hard to beat.

What Other Islands Should You Visit Near Sifnos?

If you're island hopping, I'd definitely combine Sifnos with another destination.

Milos

This would be my first choice.

Milos and Sifnos complement each other perfectly.

Milos is dramatic.

Sifnos is relaxing.

Milos is famous for beaches like Sarakiniko.

Sifnos is famous for its food and villages.

Together they make an incredible one-week itinerary.

Paros

If you enjoy a little more nightlife and energy, spend a few days in Paros before heading to Sifnos.

Serifos

If you really want to escape the crowds, Serifos is another fantastic option.

Would I Go Back to Sifnos?

Without question.

In fact, if someone asked me which Greek island surprised me the most, I'd probably say Sifnos.

It has everything I enjoy when I travel.

Great food.

Beautiful scenery.

Excellent hiking.

Authentic villages.

Friendly people.

And most importantly...

It never felt rushed.

Sometimes the best destinations aren't the ones with the biggest bucket-list attractions.

They're the places that simply make you slow down and enjoy where you are.

For me, Sifnos was one of those places.

And I already know I'll be back.
